The western genre to me is a funny thing: a western can either be very, very good, or it can be very, very bad. It seems difficult to find a middle ground for these kinds of stories. At least it seems that way to me. It's also very difficult to find one that isn't formulaic, and I think that this might be due to the pressures put upon writers from various publishing houses to produce "a book just like the last one." And I mean just like the last one. Long live originality and those who allow it to happen! I sincerely hope that my novels accomplish that if nothing else.
