Hey, Shorty! Hey, Mushu! Happy Gotcha Day! I love you both.
Wednesday, October 5, 2022
Wow! It's been so long since I typed anything here! I didn't die, I just moved. Is that the same thing? I guess it depends on where you moved to!
Friday, August 6, 2021
Gee, I haven't had much to say lately. It's probably because there is so much going on, I don't know where to begin. God bless, everyone, and stay safe.
Friday, November 13, 2020
Thank you so much for voting in record numbers. Keep it up, though. Every time there's a vote that you can take part in, do it. It'll be a great day indeed when 100% of eligible voters do so. For now, here's a shoutout to the folks in Georgia who are schooling us all in the Democratic process. And Georgians, don't forget to vote in January, 2021: it's the most important vote since the 2020 presidency. God bless you all.
Sunday, November 1, 2020
For God's sake, please take the time to go out and vote this year. It's incredible how so much is riding on the outcome. Young people and people of color especially need to exercise their right to vote. And be safe: wear a mask wherever you go. It's the right thing to do.

I did a couple of wild and crazy things today. First I bought a house in Maine just before 10 A.M., and then I sold a house in Michigan just after 4 P.M. My head is still spinning from all the stress and excitement.
Wednesday, April 22, 2020
These certainly are crazy, scary times we're living in right now. God bless and protect my family and friends now and during the difficult months ahead. Living in Maine seems to be a pipe dream for me. Heck, living for another 10 years seems to be a pipe dream, so I'd better get back to writing—and fast.
Good luck to everyone out there. Stay smart and stay safe. The coronavirus is our enemy, not one another.
Saturday, November 16, 2019
First of all, let me say a belated Happy Anniversary! to Aliya and Ram. As I understand it, you two celebrated four years of bliss on November 13th. Congratulations! Congratulations are also in order for Aliya for recently being released (just yesterday you were sprung, to be exact) from your turmoil. I hope you stay healthy and happy from now until the end of time.
Monday, August 26, 2019
Good luck at the U.S. Open, Serena. Keep your eye on the prize.
Saturday, July 27, 2019
Happy Birthday, Shorty! Have a fantastic day! And don't worry, I'm still praying for those monkeys!
Friday, July 5, 2019
I hope that everyone had a spectacular Fourth of July and that the spirit of it is propelling you into a glorious weekend. Stay safe.
Sunday, May 5, 2019
I'm really looking forward to Game of Thrones tonight, although it's going to be pretty difficult to top last week's episode. It'll be a sad day when the series ends.
Sunday, April 14, 2019
Just when I thought that nothing could top the eighth season of Game of Thrones starting today, Mr. Tiger Woods goes and wins a fifth green jacket at the Masters! Wow! What a beautifully played four rounds of golf; it was just like watching a masterclass by a virtuoso player. Thanks so much for the great memories, Tiger, and I hope you give us the same experience at least fifteen more times at major championships. Watching the greatest who ever played the game is such a treat for the rest of us mortals. Tiger Woods never gives up, and that should be an inspiration to us all.
Sunday, March 10, 2019
I've got another milestone birthday coming up and unlike the others, this one is quite depressing. Knowing that the oldest woman in the world is 116 years old makes me feel young again. (Tell that to my creaking bones!)
Tuesday, February 5, 2019
Have a very happy 85th birthday, Mom! Relax and enjoy the day. You deserve it!
Monday, December 31, 2018
2018 is almost gone and 2019 is almost upon us. Here's hoping that 2019 is a heck of a lot better than 2018 was. And, God forbid, here's a prayer that things don't get any worse.
Keep the faith.
Tuesday, December 18, 2018
After five and a half years of research, study, writing and editing, I finally completed my two books about Wyatt Earp and the infamous O.K. Corral gunfight! By the end of business today they will be available through Smashwords, and perhaps in the next week or so they will be available on Amazon.
(1) When Blood Flowed as Water: A First Tale of Old Tombstone
and
(2) Except by Continuous Bloodshed: A Second Tale of Old Tombstone.
Now it's time to celebrate!
Thursday, November 1, 2018
Thanks for coming home for two weeks, Alexandriya. The days you were here were all too short. Come back again as soon as you can. We love you!
Tuesday, October 23, 2018
Alexandriya and I met with Noreen today at the Creek Grill. My goodness, it has been 5, maybe 6 years since we'd seen her last and she hadn't aged a day! As a matter of fact, she looked better than she did the last time we saw her. I want to eat and drink what Noreen's been eating and drinking! Hopefully we'll see her again next year, God willing.
Friday, September 7, 2018
Tomorrow Serena Williams takes on Naomi Osaka in the U.S. Open final. Good luck, Serena!
Friday, July 27, 2018
Happy 25th birthday, Snewty! We love you!
Monday, July 2, 2018
Today is the start of the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Good luck, Serena Williams. I'm rooting for you once again. Stay healthy and keep on fighting.
Tuesday, March 13, 2018
Wow! This marks another birthday for me and I've come to one very disturbing conclusion: man, I'm getting old! What's on the agenda? Take it easy today and do whatever I want (as long as it's legal).
Monday, February 5, 2018
My goodness, I've got a lot of catching up to do! Happy 84th birthday, Mom! Enjoy the Jacques Torres chocolates!
Wednesday, January 3, 2018
Have a very happy birthday, Craig! Enjoy the camera! We love you and we'll talk to you soon!
Monday, January 1, 2018
Happy New Year! Let's hope 2018 turns out to be better than 2017. God help us all if it turns out to be worse!
Monday, December 25, 2017
Happy Holidays to everyone! Have a safe and happy holiday season.
Monday, October 30, 2017
Happy Birthday, Mark! We love you!
Monday, October 23, 2017
I'm putting the finishing touches on my novel When Blood Flowed as Water and I'm also beginning to work on the cover. I've got my fingers crossed that this Book One in my Tales of Old Tombstone set will be completed by the end of the year.
Thursday, August 31, 2017
It's a sad time, thinking about the death of Princess Diana. She was a great lady who is still missed by millions. Rest in peace; after what you went through on earth, you deserve it.
Thursday, July 27, 2017
We wish you a very happy 24th birthday, Snewty! Have a great day, enjoy your presents, and even though it's a workday, try to take some time to relax. We love you!
Sunday, July 23, 2017
I'm with the majority of Americans who are fighting for a national health care system. It's about time we caught up with every other industrialized nation in the world. Better late than never. In this way, let's all work toward saving lives!
Thursday, June 8, 2017
Just catching up. Crazy world we live in, eh?
Wednesday, May 10, 2017
During every political firestorm, people are bound to get burned. And it's usually the people who started the fire who feel it the most.
Sunday, April 16, 2017
Happy Easter to those who believe, and have a great day to those who don't.
Sunday, April 9, 2017
In two years or so, it'll be Maine or bust!
Monday, March 13, 2017
Just checking in to say that today is a great day to do fun stuff. So that's what I've decided to do. I'm not crazy about the 3 to 4 inches of snow that we're supposed to get, but everything else so far is just jim-dandy!
Friday, February 24, 2017
Just checking in with everyone. I am still editing my Wyatt Earp books and they should be finished soon. I hope you'll give them a try when they're done!
Saturday, January 28, 2017
Congratulations are in order for Serena Williams, the greatest tennis player who ever walked on the face of the earth. 23 grand slam singles titles in the open era? That, my friends, is otherworldly!
Thursday, January 26, 2017
Good golly, Miss Holly! Serena Williams and Venus Williams have made it into the Australian Open final! Wow, what an effort!
Sunday, January 15, 2017
The Australian Open tennis tournament starts tomorrow. The player I'm rooting for is obvious: that would be Serena Williams, of course. If Serena could make up her "at least one major title a year" quota the first time out in 2017, well, that would be great. Here's to hoping you pick up title number 23, Serena. Belinda Bencic is a tough player to go up against in the first round; I thought seeded players were supposed to have an easy first round?
Saturday, December 31, 2016
Wishing everyone a safe and happy new year! I don't know about you, but I'm glad that 2016 is finally coming to an end. There are lots of things I'd like to forget about it.
Sunday, December 25, 2016
Happy Holidays to one and all! May your days be filled with love, laughter and peace!
Saturday, December 17, 2016
The holidays are fast approaching. Here's to everyone staying safe and happy during this time.
Thursday, November 24, 2016
Wishing everyone a fond and joyous Thanksgiving, the one day of the year where you actually have an excuse to overeat. I hope that you get to share it with loved ones.
Tuesday, November 8, 2016
Don't forget to vote today! I can't recall a single American presidential election that was more important than this one. Every vote counts!
Sunday, October 30, 2016
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Mark. We love you!
Sunday, October 16, 2016
I'm about to try out that DNA service 23 and me as a gift to my mother. I guess we'll all find out just how far our roots go.
Thursday, September 22, 2016
Just got back from our trip to Yellowstone National Park a couple of days ago. Wow, what an experience! Yellowstone is definitely a nature lover's paradise.
Sunday, August 21, 2016
The great Serena Williams is still number one.
Wednesday, August 3, 2016
I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to the Olympics! I wish the very best of luck to all of my favorites!
Wednesday, July 27, 2016
Happy birthday, Snewty Patootie! We love you! Happy belated birthday to you, too, Salem!
Saturday, July 9, 2016
Congratulations, Serena Williams, on grand slam singles title number twenty-two. I always knew you had the ability to reach for the stars. And taking the ladies' doubles title as well? What a wonderful bonus!
Monday, June 6, 2016
Happy Birthday, Marlene! We love you!
Tuesday, May 17, 2016
The French Open tennis tournament starts in less than a week. I wonder who I'll be rooting for…?
Saturday, April 30, 2016
Congratulations, David! Today you've earned a bachelor's degree from Oakland University's School of Education and Human Services. Bravo!
Sunday, March 27, 2016
I'm hoping you get that winning form back, Serena, at the Miami Open. Here's to you and your fabulous career!
Sunday, January 3, 2016
Happy birthday, Craig. We love you!
Saturday, January 2, 2016
Let's all make this a new year to remember!
Sunday, December 20, 2015
Wishing everyone the happiest of holidays and an outstanding new year!
Saturday, November 14, 2015
I've been working on my book about Wyatt Earp and the rest of those Tombstone, Arizona staples. I'm really starting to like the flow of the book. With all the research I've done, I've probably been working on it for better than two years now. It should be completed in early 2016.
Friday, October 30, 2015
Today is my husband's 57th birthday, and I wish him at least that many more!
Monday, September 14, 2015
Congratulations on an outstanding year, Serena Williams. I look forward to watching you play in 2016!
Wednesday, August 5, 2015
You're starting to get your new swing on point, Tiger. Keep up the good work. It'll be great to see you winning again.
Saturday, August 1, 2015
Serena came through, so now it's your turn to do well at the Quicken Loans National golf tournament, Tiger Woods. The best of luck to you.
Friday, July 10, 2015
Good luck Serena Williams! I'm pulling for you to win the Wimbledon singles title tomorrow.
Tuesday, June 9, 2015
I am proud to announce that my daughter is an electrical engineer who also has a degree in brain and cognitive sciences. She is also a member of the national engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi. Outstanding!
Friday, May 22, 2015
My husband and I will be heading off to Canada for a few days, and then we'll be spend some time in the great state of Maine. After rubbing elbows with the moose and the whales and the llamas there, we'll be drifting down into Massachusetts to see our daughter graduate. Should be fun!
Sunday, May 17, 2015
My daughter will graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on June 5, 2015. Congratulations, Snewt! You did it!
Saturday, April 18, 2015
I am very pleased to say that my daughter has decided to attend Johns Hopkins University in the fall. She has been awarded a Biomedical Engineering Fellowship as a PhD candidate. Dad and I are very proud!
Saturday, March 14, 2015
Yesterday was my birthday. I'm 56 years old now, and hopefully still going strong.
Sunday, March 8, 2015
My daughter is flying from Stanford, California on her way back to Cambridge, Massachusetts by way of Logan International Airport in Boston today. Six hours in the air, losing about an hour on buses and subways, and then losing another 3 hours on top of that because of the time differential is not a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday. (The spring ahead is also a killer today—another hour gone, just like that!) Daddy and I wish you safe travels, Shorty. We love you.
Monday, February 9, 2015
If you are ever near Tampa, Florida, please treat yourself by checking out the Salvador Dali Museum. It's small, but it sure packs a punch.
Tuesday, January 13, 2015
My husband and I will be traveling to Florida soon to visit with my father-in-law and his wife. It will be great to get away from the Michigan snow and subzero temperatures for awhile!
Sunday, January 4, 2015
Yesterday was my son's 27th birthday, so I'd like to wish him all the best and to say how proud I am of him. I wish Craig and everyone else an outstanding 2015!
Sunday, December 28, 2014
2015 isn't that far away. I wish everyone a very happy, peaceful, and prosperous new year.
Sunday, December 21, 2014
If all goes well, I will be publishing Twilight Is the Time the Dead Look Back today on Smashwords and on Amazon. I hope it is well received. Happy holidays!
Thursday, December 18, 2014
My daughter is coming home from school for the holidays today. My husband and I can't wait to see her!
Monday, November 24, 2014
I hope everyone has a very safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Wednesday, November 5, 2014
I'm still numb over the election results. What's happening here? Can anybody tell me?
Sunday, October 19, 2014
My husband and I will be jetting off to Cambridge, Massachusetts soon to visit our daughter. She's double-majoring in electrical engineering and in brain and cognitive sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. God bless her, she will be graduating from MIT this May.
Sunday, October 5, 2014
Soon I'll be publishing some of my short stories on this website so that visitors may enjoy them for free. It's the least I can do.
Saturday, September 27, 2014
We've got a nice Twilight cover idea in the works, so it looks as though the fifth installment of my Detective Rein Connery series will be released sooner than expected. I've got my fingers crossed!
Sunday, September 21, 2014
Twilight Is the Time the Dead Look Back, the fifth installment of my Detective Rein Connery mystery series, will be published before the end of the year. The book is done, but the cover image is presenting itself to be quite the challenge.
Thursday, September 11, 2014
My father would have been 80 years old today. He died 13 years ago, the same year as the twin tower attacks in New York City.
Sunday, September 7, 2014
All I have to say is this: Serena Williams, you are so cool! 18 majors, and counting. You are without a doubt one of the best tennis players this old planet has ever seen. Congratulations!
Tuesday, September 2, 2014
We just got back from dropping our daughter off at MIT. She's a senior undergraduate student, so the next time we have to deal with that drive (over 780 miles one way), it'll be for her graduation!
Thursday, August 14, 2014
I just published Scion of Gethsemane. And, as promised, I am offering a 50% off coupon (a promotional price of $2.00) until August 25, 2014. Enjoy!
Sunday, August 10, 2014
I am finally finishing up with my next two Detective Rein Connery books, Good As You and Twilight Is the Time the Dead Look Back. They should be available for purchase by the end of the week. Please let me know what you think of them.
Friday, July 18, 2014
I'll be adding a short summary for Scion of Gethsemane sometime this weekend, with sample chapters soon to follow. Let me know if you think the novel sounds interesting. Thanks a bunch!
Monday, June 30, 2014
For those of you who love a good contemporary story about love, lives, and relationships, keep your eyes open for my novel Scion of Gethsemane. It will be available before the end of August. If you love a good mystery filled with interesting characters, check out Good As You (my salute to the gay and lesbian people in my life) and Twilight Is the Time the Dead Look Back (a salute to my Native American friends). They should be ready to read by the end of August as well. I'll explain a little about each of them in the following weeks.
Monday, June 9, 2014
Thanks for the thrills, California Chrome. You did your best, and we love you for it.
Wednesday, June 4, 2014
So, California Chrome, you've got the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness already in the bag. Don't let us down now because the Triple Crown is so close, you can touch it. The best of luck to you at the Belmont Stakes. I'll be watching, and I know that Marlene will be watching from heaven, too.
Saturday, May 3, 2014
The Kentucky Derby is today! Best of luck to California Chrome; I hope he lives up to all the hype. May the spirit of Alberta Marlene Denny Emonds be with you!
Wednesday, February 5, 2014
Happy 80th birthday, Mom! We love you!
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
I'd like to give a shout-out to my husband who has been in Grangemouth, Scotland for the past week. He is within walking distance of the new kelpies the populace constructed in a nearby park (check them out online). And please don't eat the black pudding!
Sunday, January 12, 2014
This website is lovingly dedicated to the memories of William Hayes Braxton and Alberta Marlene Denny Emonds. May they both rest in peace and joy.
Friday, January 10, 2014
It's so nice to have a place in cyberspace that I can finally call home.
Monday, January 6, 2014
So it begins.
